Southwestern men's and women's soccer, as well as men's and women's lacrosse, have called Varsity Field home since 1993.

During that time, the Pirates have seen improvements in Varsity Field seating and aesthetics and have hosted numerous championships on Southwestern's campus. Most recently, Varsity Field has added covered awnings for spectators and in the player bench areas. Spectator seating includes one-of-a-kind limestone rock built into the hill with bleacher seats above it.

Men's and women's soccer have rotated hosting the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship Tournament, starting in 2012 for the women's tournament and 2013 for the men's tournament.

The fields saw improvements with the addition of lights in 2014, most Friday nights during the fall you can watch the Pirate men's and women's soccer team in conference action. In the spring, both men's and women's lacrosse teams host games from early afternoon to late evening across the week.

Varsity Field hosted its first lacrosse game on March 13, 2010, when the Pirate men hosted Trine University. On February 7, 2014, the Pirate women played their first game on Varsity Field in the inaugural women's lacrosse game against Hendrix College.

The Southwestern men's lacrosse program also hosted the first SCAC Lacrosse Championship on April 26, 2014, against Colorado College.

In 2019 the Pirate's women's soccer program hosted the 2019 SCAC Tournament in which they won their first program championship against Trinity University in overtime.
